A driver has been arrested in Bristol after police received reports of a vehicle travelling on the Portway "with sparks coming from it". Police said a short chase ensued after the van failed to stop for officers last night, Monday January 16.
Avon and Somerset Police posted an image on Twitter of a white van with no tyres stationary on the road after officers caught up with the battered vehicle. Its driver was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving including driving while unfit through drugs said to be medication.
The picture was posted by the force's Roads Policing Unit just after 8pm last night. The photo was accompanied by a tweet which read: "Calls from the public this evening regarding a vehicle travelling on the Portway #Bristol with sparks coming from it!
"Vehicle located, FTS but after a short pursuit driver arrested for dangerous driving including driving whilst unfit through drugs (medication)."
