Police car crashes into VW as Leeds street closed near Crown Point

A police car was involved in a crash in Leeds and emergency crews rushed to help the injured officers in the vehicle.

The marked police car collided with the white Volkswagen just after 7pm on Crown Point Road, near Leeds Canal, today (March 23). West Yorkshire Police confirmed that no one was left seriously injured.

Ambulances crews rushed to treat two officers and the driver of the VW, according to online regional breaking-news service, YappApp.

YappApp said: "A serious collision involving a marked police vehicle has closed a busy road into Leeds this evening. Emergency crews including two fire engines were called shortly after 7.15pm [sic] to the A61 Crown Point Road at its junction with East Street.

"Paramedics in two ambulances tended to the injured officers and the driver of a second vehicle a VW car."

The scene has since been cleared.

Police were not able to confirm if there have been any arrests or whether the police car had its lights on at the time of the crash.
