Police called following reports of kids 'surfing buses' in Leigh

Police were called to Leigh Bus Station following reports of young people abusing staff and 'surfing' on buses.

A group of 12-14 year-olds fled the scene when they were spotted by officers at the bus station this evening (January 17).

In a post on Facebook, GMP said they are working with TfGM to identify those involved.

A post by GMP Leigh, Atherton & Hindley on Facebook reads: "Officers from the Specialist Operations #GMPTransportunit are deployed at Leigh Bus Station following ongoing reports of youth abusing staff and "surfing" on the buses.

"This behaviour absolutely will not be tolerated and once identified the offender's will be arrested and put before the courts. We work closely with #GMTravelsafe to identify perpetrators and remove any travel concessions as well.

"A group of 12-14yr olds has already been dispersed on sighting officers arrive!

"Parents! Do you know where your children are? They are YOUR responsibility. Will the next phone call be from us requiring you to attend a custody suite?"
