A BUSY Glasgow road has been closed, and police called following reports of a protest after a woman was allegedly robbed.

Police have been called to London Road after a large number of people gathered in the area after a 27-year-old woman was allegedly robbed on Shettleston Road.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a number of offences including robbery, police assault and resisting arrest.

He is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday.

Following the incident, a number of people have gathered in the area shouting “no more” after people on Facebook urged residents to assemble amid claims of a sexual assault in the area.

Police have reportedly denied these claims.

Glasgow City Council has confirmed that the junction of London Road and Braidfauld Street has been closed, with officers in attendance following the gathering.

A statement from the local authority said: “Due to an ongoing protest, traffic is currently obstructed at the junction of London Road/ Braidfauld Street on all approaches.

“Road users are advised to expect delays and should consider alternative routes.”
