POLICE were forced to bust into a Newcastle East apartment and intervene in an alleged assault on Friday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Nobbys Road just after 2pm on August 16 after a concern for welfare report.
Newcastle police officers rushed to the scene under lights and siren and allegedly had to force entry into an apartment.
Inside, they intervened as an alleged assault unfolded.
Ambulance paramedics were called to the apartment and treated a 46-year-old man for cuts to his head.
He was taken to John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle with injuries police believed were not life-threatening.
An 18-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Newcastle Police Station, where he was assisting police with their inquiries on Friday afternoon.
Several police vehicles, including the rescue unit, were seen responding to calls for help under lights and siren, and at least two ambulances formed part of the emergency response.
