A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5pm on Thursday, December 8, 2022, we were called to a report of a one vehicle crash on the A1 southbound between Gladsmuir and Oaktree, near Haddington.
“A 37-year-old woman and two children, aged eight and 11, were taken to hospital by ambulance.
“The road was reopened around 10.50pm."
East Lothian Police stated on social media: "The A1 southbound is currently closed between Gladsmuir and Oaktree, near Haddington, due to a crash. A diversion is in place and motorists are advised to avoid the area."
Lothian Buses diverted the X7 bus due to the incident.
In a statement, they said: "Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve A1 from Gladsmuir and are instead diverted via Gladsmuir junction B6363 and A199 Southbound only until further notice, Due to increased traffic on this diversion buses are also subject to delays."
Meanwhile, commuters took to social media as some report that they were stuck in the queue for over an hour.
This comes shortly after drivers were warned to expect delays following another collision on the M8. During rush hour, Traffic Scotland warned drivers that there were delays on the major road. A collision led to one lane being blocked on the M8 westbound at J2 Newbridge.
