Police arrest 4 on cricket betting charges in Andhra Pradesh, Rs.80 lakh seized

TIRUPATI: Adoni police in Kurnool district arrested four persons on cricket betting charges and seized Rs.80 lakh cash, one four wheeler, two bikes and 4 mobile phones from the possession of the accused on Saturday.

The accused were identified as Boya Mahanandi, a resident of Maratigeri in Adoni town, Pinjari Hussain alias Chiddu, resident of Pinjariveedi in Adoni town, Pinjari Mahmad Khasim, resident of Rajeswari nagar in Adoni town and Vadla Raghavendra Achari, resident of Myhome apartments at Nasik Ramguda in Hyderabad.

Adoni DSP J Shivanarayana Swamy told reporters that the III town police received specific information regarding cricket betting and conducted raids at Pinjari Hussain's house where all the accused were caught red-handed.

The DSP appreciated CI K Sreeram and his team for arresting the four accused and for seizing Rs.80 lakh cash and other valuables during the raid.

He appealed to the people to alert the local police in case they come across any suspicious activities in their neighborhood.
