Police are appealing for information that can help them identify a thief from Renfrew who stole a car from a property in the area.
The crook struck at a Newmains Road home around 5.40pm on Thursday, December 29.
The householder told police they’d locked the door around 5pm.
Around 5.40pm, they heard their dog barking and went to see what all the fuss was about. They then discovered the front door to be ajar and that the keys for the car, a Volkswagen Polo, were missing.
They then went outside and discovered that the car was no longer where they left it.
Police say there are several CCTV cameras in the area and that they will be analysing footage for any sign of the suspect or car.
Deputy Area Commander, Inspector Alex Marshall, urged members of the public to be extra vigilant around this time of year as thieves look to take advantage of the dark nights.
Anybody with information can call 101.
