Police appeal after 'sex assault' on rush-hour London Tube train

Officers want to speak with a man who they believe can assist them in their investigation - (British Transport Police)

Police have released an image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with an alleged sexual assault on board a Northern line train.

The woman boarded a rush-hour Northern line train at around 5:30pm on April 23 and stood by the door. She was then allegedly sexually assaulted by a man, the British Transport Police have said.

The offender then got off the train at Tufnell Park.

Officers have now released an image of a man who they believe may have more information that could aid their investigation.

Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 491 of 23 April.

Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The number of reported sexual offences on the London Underground reached the highest level in five years, according to data published in December.

A total of 595 offences were reported across all lines in 2024-25, the most since 776 reports in 2019-20.
