Facebook commenters have slammed the police who took two youths home to their parents after 'walking around town with BB guns shooting at passing cars'. Social media users took aim at the officers' approach after the youths were stopped-and-searched in a town centre, with a 'BB gun and ammo' being discovered.
Those on social media asked 'is that it?'. Another commenter added that the BB gun could 'easily blind someone... and now mummy tucks them up, ridiculous'.

On Sunday night, the Greater Manchester Police Bolton neighbourhood Facebook pages posted: "Whilst out on patrol the Bolton town centre team responded to reports of two youths walking around town with BB guns shooting them at passing cars.
"Local CCTV operators directed the neighbourhood team to their location and both youths were stopped search and a BB gun and ammo seized. Both youths taken home to parents. #boltontowncentreteam #grounded."
But the incident was met with fury online, as Facebook users commented their thoughts. One commenter wrote: "Should have been held in the cells and their parents asked to collect them (at their leisure). A bit of a frightening might put them off doing it again."
Another said: "Taken home to their parents? Within 10 minutes they'll be back out at it again. What a total p***take."
"Absolute muppets," added a third Facebook commenter. "Nothing worse than your mum and dad finding out. Proper learning curve."
Greater Manchester Police has been approached for a response.
