As the latest edition of the UEFA Nations League kicks off, Poland's head coach Michal Probierz is ready to take on a wounded Scotland in what promises to be an intriguing clash on Thursday night.
Both teams are coming off disappointing exits from Euro 2024, having failed to advance past the group stages, and the stakes are high for both sides as they look to turn their fortunes around.
Scotland enter the match still under considerable scrutiny following how their tournament panned out in Germany this summer. They have managed just one win in their last 12 outings - a 2-0 friendly victory over Gibraltar in Faro, and this lack of form has intensified scrutiny on manager Steve Clarke, who is eager to see his team deliver improved performances.
Probierz, however, is not taking the Scots lightly. He has already cautioned his players about the potential impact of the passionate Tartan Army, emphasising the need for focus and determination.
Speaking ahead of his sides visit to Hampden Park, Probierz said: "Of course it’s a disappointment if you’re eliminated as one of the first teams from the Euros. Poland and Scotland were eliminated early.

“However, Steve Clarke is a really good coach. He’s able to build up the team and I can see that in that team every player is fighting for each other.
“The team also has very good supporters, so for us it’s going to be a very interesting game and experience.
“We’re looking forward to seeing how we perform in these circumstances."
Poland have dominated the head-to-head record between the nations when it comes to being the visiting team, a run that dates all the way back to May 1960. They have earned two wins and three draws on Scottish soil.
“Let’s keep it that way," Probierz demanded. “I’ve seen some games on the television at Hampden and there’s always a very warm atmosphere.
“I’m sure the atmosphere will be similar to in Wales (who Poland beat in their Euro 2024 qualifying play-off earlier this year).
“It might be another hot game and we need to be prepared and ready for that. We’re looking forward to that.”
