A recent Reddit discussion has created an unusual debate among "Pokémon" fans. The topic is whether the franchise should introduce more Pokémon inspired by guns, shooting, and spy-themed designs in "Winds and Waves."
The discussion began when one fan suggested that "Pokémon" could use more creatures built around firearm-inspired concepts. They pointed to Inteleon as an example.
The fan said they would like to see another Pokémon with a spy theme and a shooting-based design. However, they also hoped the new creature would have a more appealing look than Inteleon.
Inteleon Could Get Some Competition
Inteleon is already one of the most recognizable Pokémon associated with a firearm-inspired concept.
The Water-type Pokémon is designed around the image of a secret agent. Its long, slender appearance also fits the spy theme. In some of its moves, Inteleon can use its finger in a way that resembles a gun.
For the Reddit poster, however, one Pokémon is not enough.
They suggested creating another spy-themed Pokémon that uses a shooting-based concept. The fan even said they would consider the new creature a favorite if Game Freak ever introduced one.
Some fans were open to the idea. Others wanted the concept to remain silly rather than realistic.
One commenter said they would support more weapon-inspired Pokémon as long as the designs stayed goofy. Instead of realistic firearms, they suggested something closer to pirate ship cannons.
Remoraid and Octillery Enter the Conversation
According to the Reddit post, several fans also pointed out that the Pokémon franchise already has creatures connected to artillery and cannon designs.
Remoraid and Octillery were among the examples mentioned.
Octillery is particularly relevant because its design is associated with an artillery weapon. Its name also combines the words "octopus" and "artillery."
However, some fans felt that these Pokémon did not fully match the original suggestion.
The Reddit poster was specifically interested in Pokémon that resemble actual firearms. They also believed that another attempt at a spy-themed creature could work if the design was handled differently.
Some Fans Prefer Fewer Weapon-Based Designs
Not everyone supported the idea.
One fan argued that introducing more gun-inspired Pokémon could make the franchise appear to be responding to "Palworld." Because of that, they would rather Pokémon avoid going further in that direction.
Another commenter took a broader view of the issue. They argued that weapons are already heavily normalized in the United States. From their perspective, Pokémon could benefit from using fewer cannon and firearm-inspired designs.
The mixed responses show how divided fans can be over weapon-inspired Pokémon. Some see the concept as an opportunity for creative designs. Others think the franchise should explore different ideas.
Blastoise Joins the Discussion
Blastoise also became part of the conversation.
One fan responded with a GIF of the Water-type Pokémon. The choice made sense because Blastoise has two large water cannons built directly into its shell.
Blastoise has long been one of the franchise's most recognizable cannon-inspired designs. Its appearance shows how Pokémon can turn a weapon-like concept into something playful and distinctly creature-like.
For now, there is no indication that The Pokémon Company plans to introduce another firearm-inspired Pokémon.
