Pokemon Scarlet and Violet announcement sparks Lechonk fever

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are set for release this November, and we just got a brand-new trailer that showed off its open-world and co-op questing.

But forget all that, we’re here for Lechonk, which is French for “the chonk”. Actually, “lechon” is Spanish for “suckling pig” – you know, the food. But don’t worry about facts – there’s a new Pokemon and it’s a chonky pig.

According to its official description, “it may appear fat at first glance, but in reality, the Pokemon’s body is mostly muscle built by constantly walking around in search of food.” He’s me. He’s me, for real.

Predictably, the internet has lost its collective mind.

Some Pokemon designs are outright stupid. Hell, there’s one that looks like a set of keys. This time, the developers nailed it. It’s just a round pig with a cute face and a funny name, the perfect fodder for farming likes on Twitter.

Here are some of the best Lechonk memes and tweets we’ve seen so far…

We’ll kick off with IGN giving little Lechonk the old golden ratio treatment. The eyes, the tongue, the ears – his whole face just screams “normal type”. He’s just a normal man. He’s an innocent man.

People are already considering founding the church of Lechonk, and who can blame them?

First Uri Gellar with Kadabra and now this. Poor Spud.

The speed the artists move at these days terrifies me. Imagine making art this perfect in the amount of time it takes me to wake up in the morning.

Oh my. Just… oh my.

This is funny, but honestly, who the hell cares about Wooloo anyway? Oh wow, you’re a weird sheep ball. Great. I’m happy for you. Grow up, Wooloo. Grow up.

I’ll never look at his nose the same way again.

It’s only a matter of time before the fancams. I can’t wait.

Anyway, that’s Lechonk. Now you know.

Cheers!
