The Nintendo Switch 2 sold 154% more UK units in March 2026 compared to February, thanks to the release of Pokemon Pokopia.
Pokemon Pokopia is that game this year. Not only has it once again overtaken Resident Evil Requiem on Metacritic as the best game of 2026, and been rated as the best Pokemon title of all time, but the game was so popular that people were reporting shortages of the game at retailers. Nintendo and The Pokemon Company confirmed that the game had sold 2.2 million copies in its first four days, and with the lack of an Animal Crossing: New Horizons sequel, cozy game fans are clearly flocking to it, which in turn has given a boost to the Switch 2 itself.
One caveat. March was a five-week month, whereas February was a four-week month.March 31, 2026
The Game Business co-founder Christopher Dring reports that (per Nielsen IQ) "Nintendo Switch 2 UK sales jumped 154% in March month-on-month following the release of Pokemon Pokopia." Nintendo accounts for over 50% of all consoles sold in the UK so far this year. Dring notes that "One caveat. March was a five-week month, whereas February was a four-week month," but regardless, it's an impressive bump.
With this excellent month, Dring notes that "Nintendo accounts for over 50% of all consoles sold in the UK so far this year," and with the combination of the PS5 price rise, Xbox not doing much, and the leaked Nintendo lineup for 2026 sounding kind of wild, I wouldn't be shocked if this continued throughout the year.
