Floral tributes have been poignantly placed on the steps of an Ayrshire Royal estate where Her Majesty The Queen once walked down.
Bouquets and hand written notes have been placed at the front entrance of Dumfries House in Cumnock, where King Charles III frequents after saving the house for the nation back in 2007.
Melissa Simpson, head of gardens at Dumfries House, laid a bouquet on behalf of staff of The Prince’s Foundation, King Charles III’s educational charity who are headquartered at the East Ayrshire estate, in tribute to Her Majesty The Queen.
The bouquet comprised of flowers from the estate’s Queen Elizabeth II Walled Garden — opened by Her Majesty in 2014 — and included Lobelia Queen Victoria, scented Sweet Peas, and Roses.
The Queen officially opened the Walled Garden eight years ago by unveiling an engraved sundial, alongside her late husband HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, King Charles III and Queen Consort.
Other floral tributes were left on the steps of the house to honour The Queen’s service, with messages of support to the Royal Family.
One card read: “Thank you for your service. RIP Ma’am.”
Another said: “Our Nation’s Queen. Rest in peace. You kept your oath and so shall we.”
Dumfries House will continue to be open for floral tributes to be placed.
