Indigenous actress Q'orianka Kilcher, who played Pocahontas in Terrence Malick’s 2005 film The New World, is suing Avatar director James Cameron.
In the lawsuit, the German-born actress who is native Peruvian alleges that Cameron “extracted her facial features” and “directed his design team” to base the Avatar character Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldaña) on her appearance after seeing her in an LA Times advert for The New World.
