LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's stress on the rigorous vaccination drive undertaken against Corona pandemic during an election rally in Sitapur has turned the spotlight on BJP aggressive attempts to thwart opposition attempts to stoke the narrative of the saffron dispensation faltering in management of pandemic that claimed thousands of lives in UP since its outbreak in early 2020.
The PM struck the chord by asking the people at the rally whether they had been given "vaccine for free". He categorically drew a contrast with the foreign countries where vaccination was done at "a high cost." "The vaccination drive against Covid was significant and had a larger outreach than other vaccination programmes which were conducted in the country since independence," he said. Modi especially mentioned how rural areas were deprived of the vaccination process in the early days. This was not the case with the Covid vaccination, he said.
