BELAGAVI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi held the historically longest road show of 10.7 kms in the border city Belagavi of Karnataka, on Monday.
The PM's road show covered the distance from KSRP Ground to Malini City in around 70 minutes. Through this road show, PM Modi succeeded in heating up the election temper in poll-bound Karnataka.
Standing on the footstep of the car, PM Modi passed through the route waving hands towards lakhs of people along with the convoy. Shouting the slogans, Modi..Modi.., people showered flowers on the PM, standing at the roadsides and from the building tops.
Standing on both sides of the roads, an enormous crowd viewed the Prime Minister from a shorter distance. Women standing at the roadsides wearing saffron phetas and artists in the attire of various stalwarts like Chhatrapati Shivaji was a special attraction. People also viewed the road show from the eight dedicated points installed along the route.
The road show that began from KSRP Ground at 3pm proceeded through Channamma Circle, College Road, Ramlingkhind Galli, Kapileshwar Overbridge, Shivaji Garden, Old PB Road, BS Yediyurappa Marg and concluded at Malini City at 4.10 pm.
While addressing the public gathering at Malini City, PM Narendra Modi said “the way you (people of Belagavi) welcomed me was phenomenal. I saw the people from the helicopter. I bow to your love for me. I will return this love along with interest by developing Belagavi and Karnataka as well”, he assured.
CM Basavaraj Bommai said it was a historical and never before and never again road show.
