Plumes of black smoke erupted from a blaze in a quiet housing estate this evening.
Black smoke could be seen miles away as a shed caught fire in Southport. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to a shed blaze on Colchester Road at around 5.20pm today (Sunday, May 1). Crews attended the scene and were there for more than an hour and a half putting the fire out.
The shed, roughly 10m x 10m, was "well alight" when fire engines arrived at the house. MFRS also confirmed that there was one occupier of the house at the scene who suffered minor burns.

In videos that were shared on social media, thick black smoke could be seen coming from the Kew estate. The plumes of smoke shot into the sky as the fire raged on before fire services arrived at the scene.
A spokesperson for MFRS confirmed to the ECHO that fire crews arrived at the scene at 5.22pm and left at 6.57pm with the fire now extinguished.
