Pleasure Beach’s popular Big Dipper rollercoaster was evacuated after heavy snow ground the ride to a halt this morning.
Thrill-seekers saw their fun cut short on one of Blackpool’s most iconic rollercoasters as much of the northwest was battered by heavy snow this morning.
The ride came grinding to a halt after it stalled in the snow, LancsLive reported .
One rider at the front of the ride took this opportunity to take a selfie as they waited patiently to get off.
Posting on a local Facebook group, Daniel Leach said: "We just stalled on the Big Dipper in the snow and had to be evacuated.
"Slowest ride I've ever had and I called in near the big blue what we weren't gonna make it back.
"Rolled up into the brakes and the rear of the train was halfway down the hill.
"Great experience but freezing cold. Best front row ride ever."
In a statement, Blackpool Pleasure Beach said: "The Big Dipper came to a slow stop a short distance from the station platform.
"Passengers were all escorted safely from the ride to the platform a short walk (approx 50ft) away and we thank them for their patience.
"The ride is reopening for the rest of the day and the park is open until 5pm this afternoon."
The original ‘Big Dipper’ is now almost 100 years old, the track was extended and reconstructed in 1934.
Heavy snow is falling across Blackpool and the rest of Lancashire today after the Met Office issues a weather warning.
The yellow alert is in place until 3pm and is causing severe disruption to the regions road network with several accidents reported.
This came in the aftermath of Storm Eunice which brought record-breaking 122mph winds and a red weather warning.
Brits spent much of Friday sheltering from the blustery conditions.
