PlayStation Plus June games announced along with new streaming features for PS5 owners

Sony has announced the games coming to the PlayStation Plus Catalogue in June, but there’s also a surprise extra for PS5 owners this month.

PS5 users will soon be able to stream PS5 games, letting them try titles out without going through the long process of downloading up to 100GB, or more, of data.

Sony says this feature is currently “in testing” and will eventually be part of the top-end PlayStation Plus Premium subscription. When? We don’t know yet.

“We’re in the early stages right now, and we can’t wait to share more details when we’re ready, including a launch timeframe. Stay tuned,” says Sony.

PlayStation Plus Premium members can currently stream PS4 and earlier generation games from the Plus Games Catalogue. We’re effectively just seeing the current generation console join the party.

However, Sony’s wording suggests it is not making the truly bold move of letting PS4 owners with a PlayStation Plus Premium subscription stream PS5 games. It specifically cites the use of “your PS5 console”.

Microsoft does allow this kind of console-free gaming experience through its Game Pass Ultimate subscription, including recent releases.

What are PlayStation Plus’s June Catalogue games?

More interested in the games coming to the PlayStation Plus Catalogue in June? No problem.

There are eight new titles for this month, including big hitter Far Cry 6, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge, and indie darlings Rogue Legacy 2, and Inscryption. They are due to arrive “next week” according to Sony. Here’s a run-down:

  • Far Cry 6 (PS4/PS5) — An open-world action game in which you tear around a fictional take on Cuba. You have to help free the island from a dictator and his regime.
  • Rogue Legacy 2 (PS4/PS5) — Exploration-heavy platformer in which you traipse around a procedurally generated castle. It changes each time you play, and die, but you can level-up your character to gain strength with each run.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge (PS4/PS5) —  A highly rated beat ’em up that brings back the feel of Nineties arcade machines. Perfect for couch co-op with friends and family.
  • Inscryption (PS4/PS5) — The best game you’ve never heard of? Perhaps. Inscryption is a horror-themed card game where each stage becomes part of an involving story.
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (PS4) — Modern classic “immersive sim”, an expansive adventure in which you can tackle problems as you see fit. All guns blazing or a sneaky sleuth? You choose.
  • Tacoma (PS4) — This month’s quick-fire play, as you should be able to finish this story-driven title in around three hours. You wander around an empty space station to discover what happened.
  • Soulstice (PS5) — A hack-and-slash action game that didn’t pick up that much attention on its 2022 release. Still, if you’re looking for something to make full use of your PS5, this is it.
  • Killing Floor 2 (PS4) — Online multiplayer action carnage, where you fight against waves of zombies. You can play solo, but Killing Floor 2 is much more fun with others.

A time-limited game trial of WWE2K23 will also come to PlayStation Plus on June 20. As ever, the above games are only available to PlayStation Plus members subscribed to the Extra and Premium tiers.

The basic PlayStation Plus Essential only grants access to the monthly games selection. We wrote about these at the beginning of the month, a bunch that includes Jurassic World Evolution 2 and Trek to Yomi.

Considering the upgrade? PlayStation Plus Extra costs £10.99 a month, Premium £13.49 a month. You can save money by paying for a full year up-front.
