PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium games for September announced

Sony has announced the games coming to PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers this month as part of the PlayStation Plus catalogue.

There’s one clear stand-out for us. And if you haven’t heard of it, you need to pay attention. The Plucky Squire is a PS Plus “day one” release, and one of the most anticipated indie games of the year.

It’s also the only game among September’s additions to require a PlayStation 5, rather than just a PS4.

Here is what you need to know.

All of the titles coming to PS Plus Extra in September

  • Ben 10
  • Chernobylite
  • Far Cry 5
  • Night in the Woods
  • Road 96
  • Space Engineers
  • Under the Waves
  • Wild Card Football

There are also some games only PlayStation Plus Premium members will be able to play.

They are ones made for PS VR2 or games that were originally on now retro consoles. Here’s the list:

  • Mister Mosquito
  • Pistol Whip (PS VR2 only)
  • Secret Agent Clank
  • Sky Gunner

All of these titles will be added to the PlayStation Plus catalogue on September 17.

Of these titles, why is The Plucky Squire so special? It will be available for PS Plus subscribers above the Essential tier to play on its first day of release, and has picked up a lot of attention through intriguing teaser trailers.

The Plucky Squire is a “storybook” inspired puzzle-platformer adventure title that blends 2D and 3D environments to get your brain working. And it’s likely to directly light up the pleasure centres of your brain.

It’s also a manageable eight- to 10-hour game, so you won’t need to give up your hobbies for three months just to get it finished.

We also highly recommend checking out Night in the Woods if you haven’t before. It’s a story-driven game that initially looks like a stylised side-scrolling platformer. But you do more chatting than anything else here.

And, if you’re only here for the AAA stuff, check out Far Cry 5. It has been on PlayStation Plus before, but left in September 2023.
