The PlayStation 6 release date remains unannounced, but former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida believes Sony should keep the PS5 generation running longer as rising hardware costs complicate the move to next-generation consoles. Yoshida made the comments during The Vergecast on 28 September.
Yoshida left Sony Interactive Entertainment in January 2025 after more than three decades with PlayStation. His remarks were personal analysis rather than guidance from Sony, and he said during the interview that he was no longer connected to PlayStation.
