Playing this music will stop gulls stealing your chips, experts say

As a new survey reveals that 53% of Brits have experienced the act of robbery by seagulls while trying to enjoy an al fresco meal, Deliveroo is swooping in to protect one of the summer’s essential rituals with the launch of ‘Chipwatch’ - a mobile seagull deterrent crew armed with reflective umbrellas, decoy hawks and a new seagull distracting track called ‘Bye Gull Bye’.

Launching at Brighton beach (Friday, July 22) and Scarborough beach (Sunday, July 24), beachgoers and holidaymakers can enter the ‘Chipwatch’ zones on a first-come-first-served basis and enjoy their fish and chips in peace, without the threat of their meal being robbed.

New research from Deliveroo reveals that nearly half of Brits have been concerned in the past about eating outside due to a fear of seagulls swooping in to steal their food. Beachgoers will find the team patrolling the designated zones armed with propellers, reflective umbrellas and decoy hawks, all known to safely keep seagulls at bay.
