Platinum Jubilee: When will bins be collected in London over bank holiday weekend?

The Platinum Jubilee bank holiday will take place later this week–and as workers across the country enjoy the four-day weekend, public services like bin collections may be impacted.

Collection days will generally be affected by the long bank holiday weekend, but in London, the impact will vary by borough.

Find out below how your bin collection will be different this week below.

When will bins be collected in London over bank holiday weekend?

There will be no changes to the bin collection in Camden over the bank holiday weekend.

In Greenwich, bins will be collected two days earlier than normal this week.

Hackney‘s bin collection dates will be the same from Monday to Wednesday this week, but Thursday and Friday collections will take place two days later than normal.

Hammersmith and Fulham council’s website says that bin collections days do not change on or after a bank holiday weekend.

There will be no rubbish collection in Islington on Thursday or Friday. If your bin day is usually on Thursday it will be picked up on Saturday, and collections that usually take place on Friday will take place on Monday. Next week, rubbish will be collected a day later than usual.

In Lewisham, bins will be collected as normal Monday to Wednesday, and on your usual day or a day later on Thursday and Friday.

Lambeth’s bin collections are not usually impacted on bank holidays.

In Kensington and Chelsea, collections will take place as normal on Thursday, but if your rubbish is usually collected on Friday, it will be collected on Tuesday instead.

Southwark council’s website says that recycling will be collected on Wednesday as usual, and refuse will be collected on Thursday as usual.

Tower Hamlets council says it typically collects rubbish a day earlier on bank holidays.

Wandsworth and Westminster councils will collect rubbish as usual over the bank holiday weekend.

For other boroughs, people are advised to check their local council website for more information.
