Plans for new flats in Wishaw town centre rejected by council planners

Plans for new flats in Wishaw town centre have been rejected by North Lanarkshire Council planners.

The proposals for three flats in Main Street were refused by the local authority, citing the application was against local planning policy.

The proposed site is located in Wishaw town centre, with the plans being to convert an existing five-bedroom flat into three flats.

This would have consisted of two one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom flat.

In their report, council planners stated: “The council’s pollution control service have objected to the proposed development.

“In conclusion, it is deemed that the proposed development fails to comply with policy as it has not been demonstrated that the likely noise and disturbance impacts on the amenity of future residents of the development has been sufficiently mitigated.

“Whilst the site could be suitable for further residential use, the detailed assessment against local plan policy and other material considerations concludes that the proposal is not acceptable as it has not been demonstrated that noise and disturbance can be mitigated in a satisfactory way.”
