Plans for HMO in former pub 'could cause significant distress'

Neighbours of a proposed house of multiple occupancy (HMO) have said the development would strongly hurt their businesses.

An application was submitted to renovate the former site of the Clarendon Pub, on College Street, St Helens, into a two storey, 13-bed HMO. However the plans have received significant opposition from neighbours and nearby businesses who claim the move would cause "distress".

The premises, which were most recently used as offices, are close to several businesses, some of whom claim the development would be devastating to their business.
