Plans for Edinburgh coffee shop in one of 'city's most sought after addresses'

A new coffee shop could soon arrive in the heart of Edinburgh with plans put forward for a cafe in New Town.

Edinburgh City Council planners are currently considering an application to transform a basement office space, most recently used as staff room, for food and drink use at 15 Queen Street.

An occupier for the proposed new space has yet to be named, however, documents state the cafe would open Monday to Friday between the hours of 8am and 4pm, serving up the likes of coffees and baked goods such as cakes and pastries. Furthermore, the cafe could accommodate up to 33 customers at a time.

The planning application, submitted on behalf of Leach Partnership adds: "Any food sold on the premises will be delivered to site by a third party and no preparation of cooked and/or baked food will take place on the premises.

"We believe that the proposed development will transform this space into a vibrant addition to the area as well as the community’s local amenities."

15 Queen Street is currently marketed as 'one of Edinburgh's most sought after addresses', boasting '11,000 sq ft elite serviced boutique office space, offering a unique luxurious experience with an affordable edge'.

The coffee shop entrance would be located directly under the main ground floor entrance to the serviced offices.
