Plans to demolish a pub with a "chequered history" have been approved.
The Inham Nook pub, in Inham Road, Chilwell, will now be knocked down after Broxtowe Borough Council's planning committee gave demolition plans the green light.
Council houses are expected to be built on the site in the future.
The so-called "rough" pub has struggled financially over the years and has had 14 tenants in the last 10 years.
The proposals had split opinion among residents, with the former captain of the pub darts team ruing the potential loss of the 'local estate pub', but not the members of the planning committee, who voted unanimously in favour of the demolition on Wednesday, March 9.
Speaking at the meeting Councillor Greg Marshall, who represents Beeston West for Labour on Broxtowe Borough Council, said: "I don't think anyone's saying that pubs can't be a cornerstone for communities, but this is not it.
"It is a pub with a chequered history."
The pub has also been the subject of some controversy, with councillors saying that it has attracted antisocial behaviour and drug issues.
Perhaps echoing the thoughts of most in attendance, Councillor Lydia Ball, who represents Awsworth, Cossall and Trowell for the Conservatives on the borough council, said: "Yippee. Let's get on with this."
