Planned Parenthood, a prominent abortion provider, has expanded its services to include transgender medical interventions, making it one of the leading national providers in this field. The organization has faced criticism for lack of transparency in disclosing these services in its annual reports, with concerns raised by Louisiana Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy.
In response to the criticism, a Pennsylvania chapter of Planned Parenthood stated that offering gender-affirming care aligns with their mission of empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their bodies. Nationally, Planned Parenthood is the second-largest provider of hormone therapy, with the first affiliate offering hormone therapy in 2005.
