Planes 'tilt' in heavy winds as Manchester Airport flights forced to abort landings

Flights were diverted and pilots had to abort landings due to strong winds around Manchester Airport.

A number of flights were affected on Tuesday night (April 11). One Jet2 flight, the LS892 from Lanzarote to Manchester, diverted to Birmingham and was seen 'tilting' overhead before the pilot circled and landed in the Midlands.

The flight had to undertake a 'go-around', which is an aborted landing of a plane that is on its final approach or has already touched down.
