A plane carrying 62 people crashed on Friday in the Brazilian state of Sao Paulo, the airline said. VoePass confirmed in a statement that the aircraft, which was heading to the Guarulhos international airport, had 58 passengers on board, as well as four crew members. It didn't clarify the cause of the accident.
Users on social media and local network Globo uploaded what seemed to be the moment of the crash, which shows the plane doing a series of spirals before crashing on the ground in the city of Vinhedo.
Firefighters confirmed that teams were being dispatched to the site. Local outlets showed footage of a large area on fire and smoke coming out from the crash incident. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva asked people present at an event in the southern part of the country to stand and observe a minute of silence in honor of the victims.
