PANCHKULA: The municipal corporation (MC) has got richer by Rs 72.11 crore, receiving the funds as Central Finance Commission (CFC) and State Finance Commission (SFC) grants. Mayor Kulbhushan Goyal said the amount will speed up development works and new projects will be started.
The CFC has given Rs 17.64 crore and the SFC Rs 54.47 crore. Goyal said in the meeting held on February 9 under the chairmanship of the CM, all the municipal bodies of the state had been instructed to prepare the budget for the financial year of 2022-23, in which the requirement of funds had been kept in mind. The grant amount of the CFC and the SFC to be released under the financial year 2022-23 had been prepared according to population data of Parivar Pehchan Patra till December 31, 2018. Goyal said the amount will be spent on electric cycles and bikes, repair of roads, construction of new community centres, repair of parks and other works. He said there was a plan to build a sports stadium in Billa village. Sectors 1 to 24, which were not being developed in Panchkula's Kot Billa Urban Complex (Panchkula Extension Part2), now have to be cleared by land pooling from urban development.
The mayor said roads would be repaved at Rs 10 to Rs 12 crore in the first phase. For Sector 21, a sum of Rs 2 crore would be spent. Other roads to be repaired are under ward numbers 1 and 2, sector 25-26 dividing road, sectors 7-8, 25-24, 11-12, 14-12A, 16- 17, 9-16, 10-15, 11-14.
