Pizzarova on Park Street shares statement after fire as it remains closed

Pizzarova's restaurant on Park Street will remain closed 'for a few days' after a fire broke out inside. Firefighters were called to the popular Bristol eatery at 9.30pm last night (Sunday, May 8) after smoke was seen coming from the building.

Three fire engines were deployed and the fire service later confirmed to Bristol Live that the blaze was caused by an extractor fan. Pizzarova's official Instagram account posted an update today which said: "Park Street will be closed for a few days after our extractor fan over heated last night. Thanks to the fire crew for coming down to make sure everything was okay!

"Although there were no flames, these situations are always a bit scary so we are sorry to have alarmed the locals after such a lovely sunny weekend. We’ll keep you posted on when we get a new fan fitted, thanks for everyone’s messages (it seems we weren’t the only ones basking in the heat)."

According to an eyewitness, smoke could be seen coming from the front of the restaurant near the top of the window at 9.52pm, although no flames were seen. Two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus put out the fire using a carbon monoxide extinguisher.

Photographs show that a section of Unity Street was cordoned off last night as the fire was dealt with. It is one of Bristol's most popular restaurants for pizza, with a sister site on Gloucester Road and a new branch coming soon to North Street.
