Google will be announcing its new Pixel devices on 12 August at a Made by Google event and it looks like two of the Pixels are going to buck the trend and actually be cheaper than the predecessor.
We've heard a lot about the Pixel 11 recently, from Google sharing the Pixel Glow indicator on the back of the phone, through to colours leaking for the new phones.
But thanks to WinFuture's Roland Quandt, we now have another piece of the puzzle. Taking to BlueSky, Quandt shared prices, storage and the battery capacity for three models - and two are cheaper than they were before.
The trend for recent releases has seen a price increase across devices because of increasing component costs. In the recent Samsung Galaxy Z launch, devices typically had a £100 / $100 / €100 increase. That's not the case for Pixel.
Firstly, it seems that 256GB is now the standard, as there are no prices for 128GB models. That makes the Pixel 11 seem inordinately expensive, priced at £879 whereas previously the 128GB model was available for £799. However, the 256GB model of the Pixel 10 was £899, so if these prices are correct, the new model will be £20 cheaper.
The same applies to the Pixel 11 Pro: starting at 256GB it is listed as £1079 compared to £1099 for the Pixel 10 Pro (256GB). Sure, the absence of the 128GB model at £999 makes this phone feel more expensive, but for the given capacity, it's actually cheaper.
The Pixel 11 Pro XL doesn't do so well: at £1279, it's £80 more than the £1199 asked for the 256GB Pixel 10 Pro.
So on one hand, Google is assuaging those who would have previously wanted the cheaper 128GB models, while the Pixel 11 Pro XL - which is probably the model that most people want - is going to be more expensive.
In addition to the prices and confirmation of starting storage, Quandt also shares the battery capacity:
- Pixel 11 - 4985mAh
- Pixel 11 Pro - 4850mAh
- Pixel 11 Pro XL - 5115mAh
These don't appear to be significantly different to previous models. From what we've seen leaked, the new Pixel 11 phones will offer much the same design as their predecessors, with the Tensor G6 expected to boost their performance.
What we don't know is how Gemini will continue to govern the experience of these phones and what camera changes we might see.
