'Pitiful' Wales called the worst team at the World Cup as English pundit ridiculously claims they 'shamed British football'

Wales have been branded "the worst team at the World Cup by far" by talkSPORT pundit Jason Cundy.

Rob Page's side bowed out of the tournament with a 3-0 to defeat to old foe England, having lost to Iran and picked up a solitary Group B point versus USA.

Former Chelsea player Cundy went on a tirade about Wales' performances, saying that they were "pitiful".

"That red dragon, he'd go *coughs*, trying to breath fire out and there'd be the worst little puff of nothing coming out of his mouth," said Cundy on the radio.

"They were pitiful. Embarrassing, they shamed British football I'm afraid. They have waited 60-something years, there's a reason why they've not been in the World Cup for 64 years and they have finished bottom behind Iran.

"Let me just tell you this right, Qatar, the host nation. They've got the same amount of goals as them and they've got one more point. Qatar. The only reason Qatar are there is because it's their tournament.

"They are the worst side at this World Cup by some distance. They have been an absolute disgrace."

However, Cundy then said somewhat bizarrely: "Do you know what? Welsh fans listening to this - why didn't they start Bale? Why was Bale on the bench the whole game? Why didn't he play?"

Bale actually did start the game, but was substituted at half-time.
