Pirates manager Derek Shelton interrupted opponent’s windup to furiously argue with the umps

Derek Shelton had a bone to pick with the umpires and not even a pitcher’s windup could stop him.

With the Pittsburgh Pirates down 3-1 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, Shelton took issue with the way the pitch clock was being operated and started arguing with home plate umpire Quinn Wolcott. The argument seemed to stem from the buzzer the umpires use to alert them when the pitch clock is winding down. Then, as Rays pitcher Shane McClanahan was in his windup, Shelton burst out of the Pirates dugout to take the heated argument up close and personal.

Shelton was then eventually ejected for his passionate tirade, but he sure got his full money’s worth before exiting the game.
