The sun is out and we're all wondering what to wear in this heat that will help us keep cool as well as looking elegant. Lightweight, flowy dresses that skim your silhouette are perfect and this style is also the go-to for many famous faces in summer.
This includes Pippa Middleton and although she's rarely seen in public nowadays she used to be spotted a lot in the summer and her ravishing red midi dress is still one of my favourites. She wore the Ralph Lauren piece to the French Open in 2018 and we know this style works for hot weather as was very sunny at the tennis that day.
Recreate Pippa's Outfit
This affordable red dress is an elegant option if you're tempted to recreate Pippa Middleton's timeless style. It comes in regular and petite sizes and has a comfortable elasticated waist and a faux wrap bodice. The polka dots are actually tiny cherries which is so fun for summer.
If you're someone who likes your dresses to give you a bit more shoulder and arm coverage then this frock is a gorgeous piece. It's got a shirt dress design with a neat collared neckline, waist belt and sleeves that finish just above the elbow.
Also available in blue and white, this red floral dress would work for summer events and casual occasions. It's got a flattering V-neckline and an empire seam with delicate gathers. The skirt is bias cut and petal sleeves add a feminine, romantic touch.
These affordable wedges come in a range of colours, but this neutral pair is a similar tone to Pippa's and is so versatile too. They have memory foam insoles for comfort and ribbons to secure them. Throw on with jeans if you want to be smart-casual or pair with a dress or jumpsuit.
The Princess of Wales also owns Castañer wedges but Pippa's are a soft white tone. They have the classic woven sole, wedge heel and cotton uppers. The toes are rounded and these tie up just above your ankles.
You can get this woven crossbody bag in an oval and a circular design too and this rectangular one instantly reminded me of Pippa's. It's got a magnetic closure to keep your belongings secure and is made from natural grass and leather.
When she's not wearing neutrals Pippa often styles bright red and her frock was a vibrant scarlet with a delicate white nautical print of compasses, ships and fish. Red is so bold that having a neutral mixed in with it can help mellow things and also allows the pattern to really stand out.
The Ralph Lauren dress fell to midi-length, providing a lovely amount of leg coverage whilst still being very floaty and breezy for the heat. The short sleeves were also flowy and the bodice had an adjustable wrap design that accentuated the V-neckline.
Versatile dresses like Pippa's are perfect for a summer capsule wardrobe as you can imagine her wearing this with heels to a wedding, as well as to the tennis or day-to-day. The white print made accessorising very easy, as white bags and shoes would tie in effortlessly and look polished.
Her shoes were classic ivory wedges and although she and Kate love wearing British clothing brands a lot, they make an exception with espadrilles. Castañer is their favourite place to shop for them and Pippa Middleton stepped out in the lace-up Carina shoes at the French Open.
Wedges give you a bit more stability than you typically get from stilettos and are easier to walk in on grass too, which is a bonus for a season full of outdoor events. They're a style step up from your favourite white trainers without compromising on comfort.
The woven jute soles coordinated with Pippa's raffia crossbody bag and these textures always bring an extra summery edge. Crossbody bags are also so useful as they leave you hands-free and they can be used to make a more elevated ensemble feel a bit more relaxed.
In contrast, clutches and top handle bags are naturally more structured and formal. Pippa struck a great smart-casual balance in Paris and she finished off her look with black Ray-Ban sunglasses and a white and red fedora hat to protect her from the sun.
On a cooler day you could layer a white cardigan or blazer over the top of an outfit like hers but right now this is definitely not necessary! It clearly wasn't in 2018 either but the future Queen's sister looked chic and comfortable as she enjoyed watching the tennis with her husband James.
