Personal Independence Payments (PIP) is extra money to help people who have an illness, disability or health condition that impacts their everyday lives.
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) figures show there were some three million people three million people across the UK claiming PIP at the end of the financial year in April. The benefit is paid every four weeks, amounting to between £97.80 and £627.60 every payment period.
People who are awarded PIP are usually given it for a fixed amount of time, with a decision letter telling you for how long. If you're awarded PIP for more than two years, the DWP will usually review your award before it ends, to decide if you can still receive the benefit.
