Pink hummer breakdown causes delays on M50 at rush hour amid Dublin traffic chaos

Those headed northbound on the M50 this evening during rush hour were in for a lengthy bout of traffic after a pink hummer broke down, causing significant delays.

The incident occurred on the northbound route of the major road network as the car pulled over on the hard shoulder at J15, Carrickmines.

The hummer has since been recovered from the road, and traffic has begun to move at its usual pace for a Monday evening.

According to TomTom Live traffic for Dublin, congestion in the capital was at 54% at the time of the incident, which is 11% more than average for this time.

There were around 138 jams across Dublin this evening as many workers made their way home.

Another incident contributed to the vast delays after a car broke down on the M7 between Newland's Cross and Kingswood.

Motorists using the route are still being urged to be vigilant when passing by.

Some of the busiest Dublin roads include the Davitt Road in Drimnagh and the nearby Tyrconnell Road in Inchicore.

On the northside, there are continued heavy delays around Ballybough as construction work continues.
