The body of a helicopter pilot has been found two days after he lost contact with air traffic control in the Northern Territory.
NT Police are investigating the crash that occurred in the Sturt Plateau, about 80km south of Mataranka, late on Thursday.
The 59-year-old pilot had not been heard from after informing a station in the area of his intention to land.
Maritime safety and joint rescue workers launched a coordinated search effort and located the aircraft at 5pm on Saturday.
The pilot was found deceased at the wreckage of his Robinson R22 helicopter.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau will conduct an investigation and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
