Pilot calls in police over 30 'drunk' Brits on flight from Bristol to Spain

Air traffic controllers in Spain have claimed around 30 'drunken Brits' were involved in a brawl on board a flight from Bristol to the Costa Blanca on Saturday.

The situation became so out of control on the Ryanair plane that the crew had to request a police presence at the airport in Alicante.

The Air Traffic Controllers said on their Twitter account: "Flight from the UK arriving in Alicante requests police presence upon arrival due to problems with around thirty drunk passengers.

"It seems that there has been a fight on board. Priority, cut manoeuvres where possible and coordinate the presence of the police. We reiterate our support for the crews and passengers who have to suffer these situations."

According to the Spanish press, both the pilot and the organiser of the trip requested the police presence "in the face of the uncontrolled situation that took place on board". They say those involved were fighting in the aisle.

On arrival, many of the alleged passengers involved faced questioning from police, but it is understood that just two people were arrested and it is not known if anyone was charged.

Meanwhile, an easyJet flight from the UK to Turkey was diverted to Greece after two passengers became drunk and started shouting at fellow passengers and crew.

The flight, which took off from Manchester, was due to touch down in Dalaman, southwestern Turkey but instead was diverted to the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki.

Two Russian passengers, both men aged 48 and 39, were arrested by police when the plane landed in Greece, authorities said.

The pair were charged with disturbing the peace, disrupting transport and disobeying the crew's instructions. There was no physical altercation on the flight, authorities said.

The situation was also on Saturday.

An easyJet spokesperson told Mirror Online: "easyJet can confirm that flight EZY2147 from Manchester to Dalaman on 24 June diverted to Thessaloniki and was met by police due to two passengers behaving disruptively onboard. The flight continued to Dalaman after refuelling.
