Piers Morgan slams Harry and Meghan's 'reality show' and accuses them of 'stoking sympathy'

Piers Morgan held nothing back as he tore into his former pal Meghan Markle and and Prince Harry's new Netflix documentary on a one-hour TalkTV special this evening.

The broadcaster, 57, blasted the pair and mercilessly mocked the Duchess of Sussex as he sat down to discuss the first three episodes of their documentary, which dropped earlier today on the streaming platform.

During the documentary, Meghan discussed meeting the late Queen for the first time, whilst also sharing an awkward moment when she met up with the now Prince and Princess of Wales.

Of meeting the Queen, she said: "There wasn’t like some big moment of ‘Now you’re going to meet my grandmother’. I didn’t know I was going to meet her until moments before.

"We were in the car and we were going to Royal Lodge for lunch, and he’s like ‘Oh, my grandmother’s here, we’re going to meet her after church.'

"And I remember we were in the car driving up and he’s like ‘You know how to curtsy, right?’ And I just thought it was a joke. Now I’m starting to realise ‘This is a big deal’. I mean, Americans will understand this… We have medieval times, dinner and tournament."

On his TalkTV show tonight, Piers spoke about the documentary in length for the first time.

As the show opened, he mocked Meghan with a stinging impression.

The former Good Morning Britain presenter addressed the camera directly as he angrily fumed: "Nobody set out to destroy you. You destroyed yourself. What she said is garbage."

Piers claimed they have abandoned the royal family, and slammed their 'truth' insisting there was a real side of 'truth'. He claimed them mentioning Harry's late mother Princess Diana was a way of "stoking" sympathy and slammed their claims they were protecting their family as he accused them of using the Netflix documentary as a "reality show".

Piers was joined on his show by a number of guests, including one who defended Meghan's claims of racism, insisting that no one was to tell her what she had or had not experienced. Another guest also defended claims that Harry was 'whipped', insisting he was in love.

Piers famously accused Meghan of "ghosting" him after they met the same night she went on to meet Prince Harry.

"I thought we were having a good sort of friendship building," he said during a 2018 appearance on The Late Late Show, "We got on brilliantly, and then I put her in a cab. And it turned out to be a cab that took her to a party where she met Prince Harry. And then the next night they had a solo dinner together, and that was the last I ever heard from Meghan Markle. Meghan Markle ghosted me."

From there, he has been decidedly against the royal couple, criticising their every move. He quit Good Morning Britain after a row with Alex Beresford over the bombshell interview the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave to Oprah Winfrey.

Speaking about his exit on Lorraine earlier this year, Piers added: "I only regret that ITV tried to make me apologise for something I genuinely believed. I didn’t believe most of what was coming out of Meghan Markle’s mouth when she spoke to Oprah Winfrey."

"I didn’t believe her then, I don’t believe her as I sit here now, I should be entitled to not believe her."
