Piers Morgan's grovelling message to Mikel Arteta after Arsenal beat Liverpool

Infamous Arsenal fan Piers Morgan has sent a grovelling apology to Mikel Arteta after admitting that he ‘loves the way’ the Gunners play under his leadership.

The North London side currently sit top of the Premier League table after a stunning start to the new campaign and extended their excellent run against Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Gabriel Martinelli gave the hosts the perfect start with a goal in the opening minute and despite Darwin Nunez equalising for the visitors, Bukayo Saka restored Arsenal ’s lead in the closing moments of the first-half. Jurgen Klopp ’s side did manage to restore parity through Roberto Firmino but a Saka penalty secured what was a memorable victory for Arsenal.

Regularly a huge critic of Mikel Arteta and his previous work at the Emirates Stadium having regularly called for him to be sacked, Morgan appears to have changed his mind with a complimentary message to the Spaniard.

Taking to Twitter after the full-time whistle in North London, he wrote: “Dear @m8arteta - I hereby formally declare trust in your process. You’ve built a thrilling team full of energy, pace, power, commitment and ferocious will-to-win.

“Love the way we play & our attitude. I had my doubts about you - but not any more. Keep pounding.”

Meanwhile, he was highly clearly delighted with the stunning performance that the Gunners put in against Liverpool - who continue to stutter - and has even backed Arsenal for a potential title tilt.

The former Britain’s Got Talent judge continued: “FT: 3-2. Brilliant game. Brilliant performance by Arsenal. Brilliant tactics by @m8arteta Brilliant win. We’re top of the League & if we keep playing like this (and Haaland quits football to be a Marvel movie star) we can win it.”

Morgan’s latest series of tweets is not actually the first time he has performed a dramatic turnaround on Arteta’s position at the Emirates Stadium. Having called for the Spaniard to be sacked immediately after he penned a new deal in North London, he finally admitted his support for the current Arsenal schemer following the 4-2 win over Leicester City back in August.

He wrote: "BREAKING: I’m trusting the process,” whilst sharing a photo of the Arsenal manager on Twitter.

Despite Morgan now having given his backing to Arteta and a potential title challenge, the Arsenal boss isn’t particularly convinced himself having hinted that Manchester City are still the favourites.

Speaking after the full-time whistle against Liverpool, he said: "They [Man City] are really strong, they have done that for five years and we have not done that."
