Piers Morgan recalls violent clash with Jeremy Clarkson who 'punched him in the head'

Piers Morgan has opened up about his violent clash with Jeremy Clarkson - which he claims left him with a scar still visible today.

The broadcaster, 57, was speaking about the drama surrounding the Grand Tour star's Meghan Markle apology, admitting he 'wasn't friends' with the father-of-three, 62.

"That scar on my head is where he punched me in the head, we're not exactly best buddies, although we get on fine now," Piers claimed.

"I was editor of the Mirror and we published photographs of him in a compromising position with someone who wasn't the then Mrs Clarkson and he didn't like it, and next time he saw me he punched me in the head, which I thought was perfectly reasonable."

Piers went on to say he probably would have done the same thing if he was in Jeremy's position and didn't want to play the victim after the alleged altercation.

The Mirror has contacted Jeremy's reps for comment.

The former Good Morning Britain host went on to address Jeremy's apology to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Spencer Matthews' Big Fish podcast after the former Top Gear host suggested people 'throw excrement' at the duchess.

The Sussexes dismissed the apology and said Jeremy's newspaper column about Meghan was part of "a series of articles shared in hate".

Piers, who is no fan of Meghan after storming off GMB when he refused to apologise for saying he doubted her claims of racist abuse, said he wasn't surprised by the couple's reaction.

"They did what I knew they'd do," he said. "Utterly graceless, threw it back in his face 'nope, you're disgusting. We need a load of apologies for all the hateful things you've ever said or done'.

"You can never apologise to the woke mob."

Piers and Jeremy were sworn enemies for 10 years, never missing an opportunity to take a swipe at one another.

Jeremy told The Sunday Times in 2014, he had thrown a glass of water over the presenter to 'to shut him up'.

"He was seated in the row behind me, droning on about his brilliance, so as we began our descent into London, and an inevitable encounter with the waiting bank of television cameras, I turned round and emptied a glass of water into his crotch," Jeremy said.

The Frenemies showed off their 'battle scars' on Who Wants to be a Millionaire in 2020.

Addressing his foe, Piers said: "I can think of a million reasons why I shouldn't trust you. Including this scar on my forehead.

"And there's your broken finger... from when he struck me.

"I'm going to say the words I never thought I'd say... I trust you. I believe you. At least this way if I'm wrong, it's your fault."
