Piers Morgan made scathing 'village idiot' jibe at Liz Truss in brutal 2015 clash

Piers Morgan didn't have a very good relationship with the last Prime Minister - and he already has beef with the new one. The outspoken presenter held a pig in his arms when he called for Boris Johnson to resign, branding him "the greased piglet of politics".

The former PM also swerved being interviewed on Good Morning Britain and even once 'hid in a fridge' to avoid a reporter who was trying to him to speak to Piers. It doesn't look like the TV host will have better luck with the new Prime Minister, having previouslu got into a bitter row with Liz Truss during a heated interview on GMB back in 2015.

Ms Truss, who was the Environment Secretary at the time, came on the ITV show via video link from Carlisle to speak about the floods caused by Storm Desmond.

The politician claimed the floods were "unexpected", but Piers told her that "even a village idiot" could predict Britain would suffer more extreme weather because of climate change.

"I want you to guarantee the people of Cumbria do not go through this hell again," said Piers, who argued that the Government should have done more to stop the flood happening in the first place.

Ms Truss, said they had sent the army in as soon as they saw the weather forecast, but the presenter wanted to get his point across a told her to "stop talking" twice in his classic, blunt fashion.

He said: "'The problem is that we wait for the weather forecast, then we see it's going to be terrible, unprecedented, so we call the army in to repair everything.

"You can have this bit of advice for nothing. You need to set up a department for the unprecedented within your department because guess what, with global warming and climate change that's what's going to happen."

The Environment Secretary repeatedly defended the Government's flood preparations but claimed "there will be unexpected scenarios, there always are".

She added: "It is always difficult to judge when there might be an extreme event and what we do have to be is prepared."

After the heated interview Susanna Reid jokingly told her co-host: "I am appointing you the minister for the unprecedented."

Almost seven years later, it seems Piers is still not a fan of Ms Truss as he gave a foul-mouthed message to the new Prime Minister after she beat rival Rishi Sunak to become the PM.

"I would say congratulations to Ms Truss but there's no time for any celebration. This country is in a state of absolute shambles," he ranted on his Piers Morgan Uncensored show.

Piers pointed out that inflation is raging, food prices rocketing, families are struggling to pay bills and violent crime is soaring.

He continued: "Forgive my language Prime Minister, but Great Britain is quite literally turning to s***. My question is this, what are you going to do about it?

"A clean break from Boris Johnson's three years of disorder and deceit would be a good start."

Piers claimed Ms Truss' campaign had "promised a hell of a lot" and told her it was "time to get real".

Keeping his epic rant going, he said: "Tell us the truth about the mess we're in. Tell us the truth about the pain that lies ahead. Tell us the truth about what you're going to do about it that will actually work.

"Your intray today must look like the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Your country is on its knees. The office you now hold has been disgraced. Your people are angry and scared and need answers right now.

"You, Liz Truss, wanted this job. You spent weeks promising us you could fix it, that you had the solutions. Britain needs you to keep that promise and keep it fast.

"And we will be very unforgiving if you fail us."

It doesn't look like Piers and the new Prime Minister will become friends any time soon.
