Piers Morgan was left scrambling on TalkTV after Ozzy Osbourne did not show up to a booked interview appearance on the show at the last minute.
The Black Sabbath star, 73, had been due to appear on Thursday’s instalment of the show, to discuss his health woes of late and recent surgery.
The “Crazy Train” singer was discharged from a Los Angeles hospital last month after undergoing what his wife and TalkTV presenter Sharon Osbourne described as “a major operation” that would “determine the rest of his life.”
Along with Parkinson’s and a bout with COVID-19, Ozzy has been dealing with the aftermath of a quad bike accident which left him with neck issues the surgery sought to correct.
The rocker was also set to promote new music as he appeared on the programme alongside Sharon.
However, Piers was left in an awkward position during the live show as he had teased what would have been Ozzy’s first television interview since testing positive for coronavirus earlier this year.
As Sharon appeared on Piers Morgan Uncensored without her hubby, the 57-year-old television presenter appeared shocked as he said: “Now I’ve spent the past 20 minutes boasting about the fact that it was going to be you and he’s done a runner.”
The former X Factor judge Sharon replied: “He’s a bastard tonight let me tell you. Now he’s back walking he’s a diva.
“Before it was like the nicest guy, “Please help me do this, do that”, now he’s walking he’s like “I don’t want to do it. I’m not this”. He’s a diva again. He thinks he’s bloody Beyonce!”
Piers finally broke out into a laugh and admitted: “Well I quite like the fact he’s a diva again because it means he’s healthy again at least.”
The 69-year-old told Piers how Ozzy is recovering following the major surgery, saying: “It’s three and a half years of just nightmare but there’s light now as hes walking again.
“There’s no pain – he’s a pain in my arse – the last operation fixed all the pain. It’s like lifting a new weight off him. He’s loving life right now.”
Sharon confirmed that Ozzy will ‘definitely’ return to touring next year and said that alone is a 'miracle’ given his spate of health problems, likening him to an ‘iron man’ much like his song.
She added: “He comes back over and over again. It’s not just me it’s the whole family because you’re always on edge, every time he’d cough or try to stumble. It’s all behind us.”
