On Thursday afternoon, Charles' beloved mother Queen Elizabeth II died at her Scottish estate, Balmoral, with Buckingham Palace confirming the news shortly after.

The 96-year-old's death meant Prince Charles became the new King of the nation, with him making his first speech following the tragic news.
