Piers Morgan reaches out to JK Rowling for first TV interview since Trans comments

Piers Morgan is hoping to follow up a blockbuster Britney Spears interview by landing JK Rowling.

The ex-Good Morning Britain host, 56, is launching a weeknight show on new channel talkTV.

He has already secured Toxic singer Britney, 40, for a bombshell chat in which she is set to lift the lid on her 13 years under the control of her father Jamie.

Now he wants to land Harry Potter author for her first major TV interview since controversial comments on trans women. An insider said: "Piers needs to start with a bang and JK would do the job

A source close to the author said that an approach had been made but the request was turned down.

Rowling, 56, sparked controversy in 2020 with tweets which took issue with the phrase "people who menstruate". She objected to the avoidance of the word "women", saying it erased "the lived reality of women globally".

Yesterday she launched an emergency appeal to aid children trapped in orphanages in Ukraine.

Her Lumos Foundation is fundraising for food, medicine and evacuations. She tweeted: "War shatters childhoods and tears families apart."

It comes after The Mirror exclusively revealed that Piers could land the first interview with Britney since ending her conservatorship.

Sources say the bombshell interview is likely to air in the spring and will lift the lid on her “Toxic” 13 years under the the control of her father Jamie and her family fallout.

The front-runner to land the exclusive chat is former Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan, 56, who is set to launch a weeknight show on new channel talkTV.

It will also cover the 40-year-old’s turbulent personal life including her two previous marriages, as well as her relationship with fiancé Sam Asghari.

The interview could be broadcast in the US and Australia as well as the UK.

An insider suggested Britney could be the A-list name Piers launches his series with, saying: “She’s one of the biggest names in showbiz with a fascinating story to tell.

“Piers would love to sit down with Britney – as would his former employees ITV – so it would be a major coup for him. And he wants to start with a bang.”
