Piers Morgan 'felt let down' by co-star Susanna Reid after storming off Good Morning Britain

Piers Morgan reportedly felt "let down" by his Good Morning Britain co-star Susanna Reid when he stormed off the show. The controversial presenter sensationally exited the ITV show in 2021 after having a disagreement about Meghan Markle.

He later confirmed he quit the show because he refused to apologise for comments he made about the Duchess of Sussex. When Gary Lineker received support from his Match Of The Day co-stars after being removed from the show, Piers revealed felt disappointed he didn't get the same reaction from his GMB co-stars, reports the Mirror.

The 57-year-old tweeted: "Would have been nice to see the same solidarity," in response to a fan asking him: "Were you disappointed that none of your colleagues didn’t present the day after you left GMB?"

A source claimed that Piers' tweet was actually directed towards Susanna, who he used to co-host with. "Piers’ tweet was a cheeky dig at Susanna," a source explained to OK!

"He feels not just the TV executives should have been more supportive, but his co-hosts – including Susanna – should have been, too. No one came out and backed him, only his family, no one he worked side by side with. He felt let down."

Mirror have contacted his representatives for comment. Susanna helmed Good Morning Britain during weekday mornings on Mondays to Wednesdays alongside Piers between 2015 and 2021.

That quickly came to an end when Piers flounced off the set, quitting later that day after he clashed with weatherman Alex Beresford over Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey. Speaking about working with Piers, Susanna said in March last year: "We stay in touch and he’s a really important person in my life. We had such an amazing time and that was an incredible dynamic.

"He really put his imprint on the programme and it was very powerful. I remember early on, the rows about the role of women and feminism, and those arguments felt like the big issue at the time, and then, of course, we moved on to Brexit and Trump. We went through some really difficult times together as a team and those were very powerful moments.

"And when it came to the lockdown, the pandemic and holding the government to account, he was just unrivalled at holding their feet to the fire, but then it ended.”

She added: “All presenting gigs come to an end at some point, don’t they? As they will for all of us. He’s a friend of mine and that won’t change.”
